Strength

I hereby command you:  Be strong and courageous.

Do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God

is with you wherever you go.

--Joshua 1:9

 

There are many times in your life when you will be given the opportunity to go outside of your comfort zone. I was given the opportunity one summer to go on a five-day backpacking trip. God presented me with this opportunity, but I did not perceive it that way. I did end up going on the trip and I grew so much knowing God was with me. God calls upon us to use the strength he gives us to be strong and courageous, by presenting opportunities. Many people do not see these and turn away from the challenge. We should all try to see the times God gives us the opportunity to grow, with the security of knowing God is with you wherever you go.

 

Gracious God, let others take these opportunities you present in our everyday lives and flourish with them. Thank you for explaining that growth doesn't happen in your comfort zone but in the times, you leave it. We appreciate the security you provide for us as we take on challenges and learn more about ourselves and our faith. Amen
