But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for see, I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people.
--Luke 2:10
During Advent I spend time with family and friends because it makes me jolly. The days leading up to Christmas are spent baking cookies, decorating the tree, getting gifts, looking at holiday lights, enjoying gatherings, participating in the pageant and so much more. All that we do is with family. With so much to do and the buzzing of excitement, sometimes our anxieties of the season take over.
The angel Gabriel reminds us not to be afraid. Talking to God can release anxiety and shine light on advent. During Advent we light candles, which can also remind us that God listens all the time. I feel loved speaking to God, and it makes me happy when I know someone is listening. My relationship with God is like my relationship with my family. We both talk to each other when rough times are going on. They are both great listeners to whatever I'm feeling. The days leading up to Christmas I hope that you find support and comfort in others.
Gracious God, we pray that our loved ones are safe and that during this Christmas time everyone can participate in activities that make them feel happy and loved.
